EMERSON FRY

Have you heard of them yet?  Emerson Fry is a small, independent company designing and producing a collection of gorgeous, sophisticated clothing and accessories.  The aesthetic could be described as minimalist, appealing to the "less is more" crowd, but that's certainly not to be confused with boring!  Their pieces definitely have an edge -- strong, modern, maybe even a little tough.  My style is ever-changing, and I like it that way, but I never tire of a high quality, versatile garment that I'll have (and wear) for years to come.  That's why I'm (slowly) adding some of their pieces to my closet, including:

Combo Parka

This coat is heavy, warm, and gorgeous!  The waxed cotton arms give it a modern edge, but they're not egregiously trendy, so I'll be wearing this one forever.

Slouch Pant (sold out in charcoal, available in flax and denim)

Admittedly, these pants aren't for everyone.  It takes chutzpah to wear anything with a dropped crotch, though these aren't super-low.  They are so light and comfortable, and such a nice alternative to the ever-present skinny jeans (which I'm currently wearing, by the way).

Straight Combo Dress

I am in love with this dress I recently acquired, ℅ Emerson Fry.  Again, the arms are waxed cotton (but look leather).  It's the perfect shift shape, and it's decidedly cool!  Just add black booties (and tights, if it's as cold where you are as it is in Richmond right now), and you're in all-black heaven.

Emerson Slides

I have ordered a couple of pairs of unbelievably beautiful shoes from them, and none has worked for me yet.  Emerson Fry, it's not you.  It's me.  My 40-year-old runners feet won't allow me to wear such a high heel.  Not to worry, though--I've had my eye on these (completely flat) slides for a year, so they may be purchased when I no longer need sherpa-lined boots.

Big Knit Scarf

When I first saw this scarf on the website, I nearly laughed.  Who in the world would wear such a huge scarf?  ME, that's who…right now.  It will be in the teens tomorrow morning, and I'm really wishing I had that scarf waiting for me by the front door.

If the full-priced items aren't friendly enough to your wallet, don't forget to click on their "Shop Ends" (aka "Sale") section.  Same style, same quality, same staying power--not the junk no one wanted.  Still not budget-friendly?  I get it.  But consider asking for one or two pieces for your birthday.  You will love it forever.

Oh, and if you're still reading, I want to add a word about their exceptional customer service.  I love calling a company and speaking with someone who really works there and really knows the products.  I have gotten great advice on sizing, and when I've had to make exchanges, the new item is sent to me before the old one is shipped back!!  It's great for someone who needs instant gratification.  And with free shipping and returns, there's no reason not to try them out.

As a personal stylist in Richmond, VA, I strive to make wardrobe choices clear and easy for women who are short on time, overwhelmed by their closets, or transitioning from one period of life to another.  Let's connect!
