ONE DRESS 3 WAYS

Happy new year!  I hope 2016 is off to a great start and that you're beginning to recover from all of the holiday parties, lazy days, and other indulgences.

Speaking of holiday parties, show of virtual hands if you used this formula to dress for a party this holiday season:
-Black dress
-Black shoes
-Sparkly necklace
-Fun clutch
-Maybe some fur -- Kind of like this:

Anyone?  I sure did!  It's a no-brainer combination that you can tweak in small ways to give you subtly different looks.  Try some colorful statement earrings and a black clutch.  Add shimmery hosiery.  You get the picture.  But, did you know that the amazing little black dress can take you places other than cocktail affairs?

Take it down a notch, and wear it to a business meeting or church (or a charity luncheon, etc.)

I traded fur in for tweed, swapped out my bling for a more toned-down tassel necklace, and I added black opaque tights.  I really love this dress, but for a more conservative event, it's a little short for my liking (see thigh action in first picture--whoa!).  The black tights make me feel a little more covered and church-appropriate.  A classic black purse would top this look off perfectly.

Let's not stop there!  Take it down another notch for a creative get-together or lunch with friends.

Wait a minute...is that buffalo plaid with an LBD?  Yes, ma'am.  I LOVE this look!  The tough boots and leather fringe necklace make a real statement, and the sweet ruffle on the back of the shirt puts a girly vibe back into it.  Of course, the ruffle isn't necessary--just a fun detail.

Do you have a little black dress?  If so, how will you dress it down?  Maybe monochromatic with a white blazer?  Jean jacket?  Give me your ideas in the comments.

    1. Thank you! I snagged it at TJMaxx, but the brand is beachlunchlounge. I have a couple of cute ones from Target, too!
