READER QUESTION: THE PERFECT SUMMER WEDGE

Good Monday morning!  Before I get to the nitty gritty, there are a couple of things worth mentioning.

1.  It's officially summer around here!  School's out, swim team's in, and if you follow me on Instagram, you know that I am in the midst of a kid-free week.  To boot, I am now husband-free for a couple of days (he's on a business trip), so the productivity will continue today with a massive office organization.  It's a big job.  There may be a post about it later this week.

2.  Being kid- and husband-free is pretty nice, but I'll sure be glad to see everyone on Wednesday!  Our TV has been broken for several weeks, and it has been an absolute pleasure.  But, it was eerily quiet in this house last night, so, for kicks and giggles, I tried to turn the TV on one more time…and it worked!!  I may keep it my little secret.  What do you think?

On to a question from reader, Renee.  She wrote:  I'm looking for a simple, fun, affordable summer wedge that can travel from church to a night out--or even to the playground.  Suggestions?

But of course!  If you really want a wedge that can be casual enough for the playground, it needs to have a reasonable heel height, so I'd stick to no higher than 2 1/2 inches.  I like the look of an open-toe wedge, and I actually find them easier to walk in, for some reason.  Dunno why.  Espadrilles seem supremely summery and can work in a variety of scenarios.  And finally, for comfort, I prefer a full back, rather than a strap.  All of this, of course, is personal preference, but here are some that I either own or have recommended to clients.

LAUREN by Ralph Lauren Cecilia - $50
While a nude wedge is a necessary staple in a summer wardrobe, this shoe comes in an impressive array of colors.  Read the reviews carefully.  Some folks seem to think it runs large.

LifeStride Rhonda - $20-$27
I own these in red and neutral, and they are relatively comfortable and have held up really well.  There are fewer color choices, but that price is tough to beat!

Bella-Vita Sangria - $65
These break one of my rules about the strappy back, but they get good reviews.  Again, they come in a wide range of colors, but I like the idea of a print.  Wouldn't these be cute with a summery white or navy dress?  (Or jeans?  Or shorts?)

Go get a pedicure and enjoy summer!
