You've all heard the famous Coco Chanel saying that you should always take off one accessory before leaving the house.  You know… less is more.  Minimal is elegant.  Don't be tacky.  I get it, but I respectfully disagree.

Over the years, I've had so much fun going through my grandmother's old costume jewelry, digging through vintage and antique stores for rings and necklaces, finding a trendy, affordable piece at the mall, and discovering exquisite hand-made pieces from local jewelry designers.  There are times and occasions when less is probably more or when I think a piece should stand alone, but there are at least as many times when I think it's perfectly appropriate to pile it on.

Jewelry is such an easy way to add a touch of your personality to an otherwise simple look.  Don't want to think past jeans and a t-shirt?  Add some cool boho necklaces in varying lengths and a couple of chunky turquoise rings, and you've made it work!  Can't decide which of your vintage bangles you want to wear today?  Wear 'em all!

If you can figure out how to pile it on tastefully, I say forget Coco!!  (Just this once.)  Long live Iris Apfel!

As a personal stylist in Richmond, VA, I strive to make wardrobe choices clear and easy for women who are short on time, overwhelmed by their closets, or transitioning from one period of life to another.  Let's connect!
